My God and my All ... Deus Meus et Omnia.

At the outbreak of World War Two .......... Father Camillus GRUGEON went into the RAF as a chaplain in the Chaplains Branch
The undermentioned are granted commissions for the duration of hostilities with the relative rank of Squadron Leader, 11th Dec. 1939 -
The announcement for Rev. Joseph GRUGEON (76547) - And he resigned from the reserve list in 1954 with the same rank of Squadron Leader
Trying to establish exactly where he served has been extremely difficult, especially as there are no leads that one would follow for aircrew - I've been lucky to get these records - they are not as detailed as the full records of service held by the MOD but I think the following details of postings are wonderful.

Released 17 Jun 1946After the war Father John Capistran was in Liverpool for a while .... an old parishioner remembers .....
"The
Franciscan Order at one time staffed the Parish of St Mary of the
Angels Fox St until they handed the parish over to Archbishop Derek
Worlock. I remember attending the St Anthony Devotions each Tuesday
evening the late Father John Capistran OFM was the regular priest who
organised the Devotions
St
Anthony of Padua at Mossley Hill is also run by the Conventual
Franciscans and each Tuesday up to date have the Novena and veneration
of the saints relic - the service is not as good in the way how Father
John Capistran performed it but the same principle being the Novena and
being blessed by the relic - I can remember some other Friars at Fox St
....... Father Leopold, Fr Walter, Fr Dominic Devas OFM OBE, Fr Romauld
and everyone remembers Father Felix who was noted with his familiar
beard and looked like St Francis of Assisi - there were also a couple
of brothers who ran the Friary and other tasks. You could go any time of
the day and ring the bell at the side of the church requesting a priest
to hear your confession and you felt that you had really been to
confession - as I find the religious orders have that magic - they way
they do their ministry - I will always remember all those who were
involved with the Franciscan Friary Fox St ............ Pax et Bonum "
