St Francis Gorton Honour Roll

It began at 11.15 on the morning of June 28th 1914 in an outpost of the Austro-Hungarian Empire called Sarajevo.

On November 11 an armistice with Germany was signed in a railroad carriage at Compiegne. At 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918 - the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month - a ceasefire came into effect.

This is in loving memory of the soldiers who died in that War to end all Wars - who lived in the parish of this much - loved Monastery
